The New York Yankees made a postseason run to appear in their first World Series since 2009, although they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

If the Yankees are going to make it back to the World Series next season, they will have to do so without one of their best players, as free agent Juan Soto signed a contract with the New York Mets.

Although the Yankees missed out on bringing Soto back, they have made some other moves in an attempt to improve their roster.

One trade the Yankees could make includes trading for outfielder Cody Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs.

MLB Insider Jon Heyman revealed an update on the trade talks between the Yankees and Cubs on Bellinger.

“Still a $ gap in Bellinger trade talk with Yankees and Cubs as of this minute,” Heyman said via his account on ‘X.’

Heyman revealed that the amount of money is holding up the trade moving forward, but it could still get done.

Bellinger joined the league in 2017 with the Dodgers, where he played for six seasons before joining the Cubs for the last two seasons.

In 2024, Bellinger played 130 games for the Cubs, in which he batted .266, had 18 home runs, 78 RBIs, and had a .751 OPS.

Bellinger is a former Rookie of the Year Award winner in 2017 and a Most Valuable Player Award winner in 2019 with the Dodgers.

Heyman also reports that the Yankees are considering other players such as Pete Alonso, Carlos Santana, Josh Naylor, Nathaniel Lowe, and probably others.
